Eat:
It’s Neighborhood Night at Bastille Kitchen.  On Sundays at 5pm enjoy a new dinner series featuring a delicious pre fixe meal for $38 and dishes like Baby Beets Salad (beet curd, upland cress, spiced pecans and Middlebury bleu cheese), Grilled Petite Filet Mignon (haricot verts, potato gratin, roasted shallot jus), and Crème Brûlee (pistachio financier, fresh berries) – for $38. Play:
We thought the days of the Lawn on D were long gone with colder temperature and whipping winds coming down D Street, but the geniuses behind the Lawn on D are embracing the winter with their new Fire and Ice Festival.  The Winter on D will be a three-day celebration of fire and ice transforming the green space into a winter wonderland during the day and heating things up in the night.  The “ice” events will take place on January 3rd and 4th from 11am-5pm and include such fun as five-foot tall 50 x50 foot ice sculpture, family friendly activities, food trucks and of course the bar serving up beer, wine and hot chocolate.   The “fire” events will take place on January 2nd, 3rd, and 4th from 5pm to 8pm and include live fire art performances, free chowder samples from Legal Sea Foods, and propane fire pits – hope they have a fire detail on hand!

Skate:
Skate: Looking for a fun way to keep the kids entertained? Lace up the skates and hit the ice.  The Murphy Rink is offering public skating through the winter.  If you don’ t have skates, don’t worry.  You can rent them from Teddy – he is the skate master (and local legend).  If your blades are dull, he’ll sharpen ’em up for you! So bundle up the family and head to the rink!  While you’re there, indulge in some rink pizza from the concession stand – many argue it’s the best in town!
