Eat/Drink/Be Merry:
Get into the holiday spirit! Watch:
Nothing gets us more in the Christmas spirit than a good old fashioned neighborhood tree lighting!  Here in Southie we will be having  three  – yes, three – tree lightings in the ‘hood. Thursday, December 3rd – 5pm  As part of the South Boston Holiday Stroll, a tree lighting will take place in front of the South Boston Library on East Broadway.  Enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, caroling, Santa and a gingerbread house. On Sunday, December 6th at 1pm Santa Claus and his posse of merrymakers will be on hand for this tree lighting.  Reindeer, snowmen, and gingerbread will be singing, dancing and getting the crowd fired up at M Street Park.  Light refreshments will be served. The West Broadway tree near the municipal lot will have its official tree lighting celebration on Thursday, December 17th at 6:30pm.  Talk about holly jolly!

See:
“A whole new world!”  Who doesn’t love Aladin!  Head out this weekend and see the Fourth Presbyterian Church Children’s Theatre performance of the Disney classic musical with songs like “Never Had a Friend Like Me”, and “Prince Ali.” Over 40 children will be signing and performing.  This event is free and open to the public.  Shows are on Friday and Saturday at 7pm at the Fourth Presbyterian Church (340 Dorchester Street).

Support:
Support Julie’s Family Learning Program.  It’s the annual fundraiser and dinner for an amazing local institution – Julie’s Family Learning Program – on Thursday, December 3rd at 7pm at Venezia – 20 Ericsson Street.  Tickets are $50 and help support this community based support and education program helping low-income female headed families break the cycle of poverty. Run:
On your mark, get set, go! Lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for a great local school – South Boston Catholic Academy.  On Saturday, December 5th at 10am join your friends and neighbors and run a 5K race along the South Boston beaches.  Start and finish is at South Boston Catholic Academy at 866 East Broadway.  Stick around for a post-race cookout.  There is also fun for the kids on deck too with two youth races.  At 9:15 – 100 Meter Dash for kids (9 and under) and at 9:30 a 1/2 mile run (14 and under). Be Inspired:
It’s officially the start of the Christmas season this weekend with the annual Laboure House Tour.  One of Southie’s favorite traditions, the Christmas House Tour will feature homes in the around South Boston from modern to traditional.   Five homes decorated for the holidays will highlight the creative visions of local designers and provide ideas for making your own home more festive this Christmas.  The tour will also give you the opportunity to start your Christmas shopping  at the House Tour Christmas Sample Sale Shoppe. A twilight tour will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5th, and a daylight tour Sunday, Dec. 6th, from noon to 4 p.m.
