It’s a long weekend this weekend and there’s plenty to do in Southie.  On Monday, banks, libraries, schools, and the post office will be closed.  The T is running on a Saturday schedule.  Liquor stores are open.  (Phew!)

Eat:
Something’s fishy at Sullivan’s Castle Island!  Fishy in a good way – their fresh fish made to order!  You can get it baked or fried for just $7.50 with choice of french fries or cole slaw!  While you’re there take a tour of the fort!  The amazing, all-volunteer Castle Island Association in cooperation with the Mass. DCR is offering FREE tours of Fort Independence this Columbus Day Weekend.  Tours are available from Saturday-Monday starting at 12:30. The last tour begins at 3:00 p.m. Weather permitting! The is the last weekend of the season the Fort will be open for tours!

Drink:

Listen:
We jamming’! Lucky’s is hosting a Reggae night with Conscious Reggae.  Order up one of Lucky’s  new fall cocktails like their Apple Cider Margarita made with silver tequila, apple cider, fresh lime juice, clove and cinnamon infused simple syrup, cinnamon sugar rim with dehydrated apple.  You’ll be jamming’ in no time!

From the Boston-based creative studio of Materials & Methods, working in partnership with Nuit Blanche New York, The Lawn on D will be hosting a three-day spectacle of light, sound and projection art. From day to night, Illuminus D will showcase large-scale immersive light sculptures designed and created by teams who will take state-of-the-art technologies and turn them into extraordinary works that light up the night sky. Visitors will take in this transformative collective experience, which can be only found at The Lawn on D.

Watch:
It’s a sports fans dream weekend with the Bruins and the Pats playing.  The Bruins face the Red Wings on Thursday at 7:30pm, the Capitals on Saturday at 7pm and the Avalanche on Monday at 1pm.  The Pats face the Bills on Sunday at 1pm.  Here are some places where you can watch the game.  https://caughtinsouthie.com/restaurants-bar/7-places-watch-game  The Lawn on D (www.lawnond.com) will also be open for the game!  

Dance:
Dust off those dance shoes!  Kick it old school Southie-style at Seapoint (367 East Eighth Street).  Revisit the good old days and enjoy Southie DJ legend Dru Erico as he spins the tunes at Seapoint on Sunday, October 12th beginning at 8pm.   Plan on dancing the night away to such local favorites like Happy Radio and Young Hearts Run Free.   No cover charge.

It’s Club Night at Lincoln (425 West Broadway).  The South Boston Boys and Girls Club Advisory Board member Sach Flechtner wants you to come out and learn more about the great work the SB Boys and Girls Club is doing for our community.  From 5pm-7:30pm on Thursday, October 9th, mix and mingle with your neighbors, hear from club leadership and alumni, and learn about the major renovation happening to the club.  Enjoy pizza, wings, a cash bar, and raffles.  Suggested donation is $20.

Register:
