Signs of summer! Although the weather is not really cooperating, spring is here and summer is right around the corner! The Barking Crab Tent Season is officially underway! Order up some fried clams, crab cakes and some clam chowder! Don’t forget the Crabby Punch to wash it down!

Raise your glass! Thirst Boston is back for its 4th annual weekend extravaganza featuring all things cocktails! A massive celebration of New England cocktail culture, Thirst is produced by Boston events experts Maureen Hautaniemi and Nick Korn, who have upped the ante with bigger events featuring industry celebrities & top tier talent. We hear Kevin Mabry from Lincoln and Capo will be leading a seminar on Low Proof Libations. Also And GrandTen Distilling will be at the Saturday night extravaganza, State Lines!

Local artists Ryan Edwards and Andrew Hlynsky’s new interactive public art exhibition SOUND SCULPTURE, will be on view for two nights only, April 28 and 29 from 7:30pm to 11pm at The Innovation & Design Building at 21 Drydock Avenue, Suite 110E. There will also be special family programming on Saturday, April 29 from 12pm to 2pm. SOUND SCULPTURE is a multi-media installation of illuminated life-sized building bricks that the public is invited to play with by arranging and co-creating a sculpture that in turn creates a sound score. Sounds like fun! This event is FREE and open to the public! Honor:
Honor our heroes. On Saturday, April 29th gather with friends and neighbors for the South Boston WWI Heroes 100th Anniversary Commemorations of Southie’s Boston’s sacrifice during the great war 1917-1919. The ceremony will take place at 10am at Excel High School (95 G Street).
Pitch-in:
Beautify Southie’s parks and beaches! Meet up with your neighbors and help clean are parks and beaches on Saturday, April 29th from 9am to 12pm at the Murphy Skating Rink! Volunteers will work on the parks, baseball field and softball field and beaches to help prepare the area for the summer season. South Boston’s Park Serve Day has been organized by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) in conjunction with Senator Linda Dorcena Forry and Representative Nick Collins.
Dance:
Get ready to rock! Southie’s favorite band – Thomas Park will be playing at a special fundraiser to benefit the Perry School in Southie! Dance, sing, laugh and drink on Friday, April 28th from 7pm-Midnight at the Seapoint Restaurant! Funds raised will go to activities, art supplies, field trips and more! Tickets are $20! Ride:
Sunday Funday Ride at The Handle Bar is a Country theme! Julie Moody will lead you through a high energy 45 minute ride set to some country hits! Class starts at 11:45am. After the ride – hit the Southie Brunch scene! It’s all about balance, right?

Hold your spot for one of the hottest tickets in town! It’s Monday Night Comedy in the Supper Club at Capo. Your host of the night is one of our favorite people – Will Noonan! Come out for a night of food, drink, and lots of laughs! Tickets are $15 – but from now through Memorial Day – EventBrite ticket redemption is only available towards full-priced entrees on the event date. Play:
It’s the Hoops 4 Teens Basketball Tournament on Saturday, April 29th at 10:00 AM at The Boys and Girls Club of South Boston! This fun and healthy event is hosted by the teen and adult leadership of the Boys and Girls Club of South Boston, Doc Wayne, Fourth Presbyterian Church, Mary Ellen McCormack Task Force, South Boston Community Health Center Youth Ambassadors, South Boston YouthCouncil, Sparkshare, and the Tierney Learning Center. Kids are encouraged to come play basketball and come meet your neighbors! There will be food, music, and games throughout the day. Teens ages 13-18 from South Boston are eligible to play in the 5 on 5 single-elimination tournament. Teams will be mixed up in order to build relationships, because we’re a stronger team and a stronger neighborhood when we make an effort to figure out how to play together.
