Get your elastic pants ready!  The 14th Annual Taste of South Boston takes place on Sunday, April 3rd at 6pm.  Featuring over 30 of Southie’s best restaurants, eateries, and specialty food shops, attendees will get to sample some amazing culinary delights.  Another bonus? The Taste of South Boston’s wine tasting and beer sampling.  You can see a full list of participants here!  There will be live entertainment, a cash bar, raffles and a silent auction too. Raise your glass to the weekend!  Coppersmith – 40 West Third Street has a new make your own Bloody Mary bar available during brunch.  Whether you like it spicy hot or mild, this impressive set-up has fixings galore!  Stop by!

The Castle Island Association is looking for some new recruits!  This Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 3rd at 12:30pm, the Castle Island Association is hosting a new volunteer information session inside Fort Independence.  You can also join and become a CIA member for $10. Any type of volunteer help is needed and greatly appreciated! Come learn what it is all about and how to keep history alive in your own backyard!

The Fort is open for free tours starting Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend.

See:
Who doesn’t love Shrek!  Head out this weekend and see the Fourth Presbyterian Church Children’s Theatre performance of Shrek the musical with songs like “All Star”, and “I’m a Believer.” Over 40 children will be signing and performing.  This event is free and open to the public.  Shows are on Friday and Saturday at 7pm at the Fourth Presbyterian Church (340 Dorchester Street).  This event is free although donations are welcome!

Beware:
Street Cleaning is back!  Beginning Friday, April 1st both the City of Boston and DCR (along Day Blvd.) will implement the street cleaning season so watch where you park and read the signs!
