CIS Summertime Cocktail Challenge – are you up for it?  Maybe it’s the sunshine or the heat, but summertime makes us want to slow down, relax and sip on some ice cold cocktails.  We’ve gathered up the recipes from some of our favorites from around town.  We want you to taste-test them and then vote for our first ever Summer Cocktail Challenge.  The voting will begin on Monday, August 26th.  Bottoms up!

Fourth Presbyterian Church (340 Dorchester Street) hosts its annual Gospel Night concert Saturday, August 10, at 7:15pm. The seasonal special will feature organic chocolate ganache & house-made marshmallow cream side by side in a mason jar, served alongside fresh-baked graham cracker sticks for dipping. According to chef Garcia, the smell of a campfire accompanies this sweet treat whenever served (www.RenaissanceBoston.com).  Hmmm….check it out and let us know if he’s fibbing!

Dust off those roller skates – we know you still have a pair in your closet!  Mayor Tom Menino along with Metro PCA and the Boston Urban Music Festival invite you to a Roller Party at Marine Industrial Park.  There will be live performances by Bridget Kelly and Gilbere Forte.  DJ Knife and the ICA Teen DJ Collective will be spinning some tunes.  We hope they play “Good Times” by Chic and bring us back to the good old days of Spinoff on Landsdown Street circa 1983!  Are we dating ourselves? This rollerific event takes place on Saturday, August 10th from 5pm-9pm at Pier 10 Park.  Also on hand local artists, food trucks, a graffiti wall, fashion and free roller skating!
