kick-ass Inaugural Celebration

Mayor-Elect Marty Walsh announced yesterday he’s throwing quite the bash for his Inaugural Celebration on Monday, January 6th at 7pm at the Hynes Convention Center.  Not only will there lots of music and dancing, but Walsh is calling upon his supporters to lend a helping hand to those in need in the city of Boston.

The celebration will include performances by: The Boston Pops Swing Orchestra, with conductor Keith Lockhart; Dropkick Murphys; Blue Man Group; Ellis Hall; The Floor Lords; Zumix; Calypso Hurricane; Strictly Sinatra; Mark Morris and the Cat Tunes (an old-school Southie favorite); Steve Sweeney; Lenny Clarke; and DJ Master Millions. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Walsh is also asking to donate a canned good and/or make a donation to the ABCD Energy and Fuel Services program.  Boston-based ABCD’s motto is Helping Lead People Out of Poverty. Each year the agency provides vital assistance to Boston residents in need of basic services. Their Winter Emergency Campaign provides heating help, food, warm winter clothing, and holiday toys to some of Boston’s neediest households, reaching an additional 10,000 families at risk of serious health problems or housing loss this winter. Contributions can be made online: https://www.bostonabcd.org/donate-now.aspx (select Winter Emergency Fuel Fund from the form’s dropdown menu). Contributions will go towards help low-income families pay for their heating costs this winter.

Tickets are now available through Ticketmaster for $35. They can be purchased online: http://www.ticketmaster.com/Mayoral-Inaugural-Gala-tickets/artist/1947013. There is no service fee associated with the ticket purchase.
