Let’s Roll, Southie: Bike to Work Day Is Back May 7th

Thursday, May 7, 2026 marks Boston’s National Bike to Work Day—an annual event that encourages commuters to rethink their daily routine and consider a healthier, more sustainable way to get to work.
In a city where traffic congestion and public transit delays are part of everyday life, biking offers a reliable, efficient alternative. It’s also a simple way to build movement into your day while reducing your environmental impact. With warmer weather finally here, there’s no better time to give it a try.
This year introduces a new South Boston route, a 3.2-mile ride designed to make participation easy and accessible. Riders can join at any of the following stops before heading together into the city:
- 7:30 AM: Corner of M Street & E Broadway
- 7:35 AM: South Boston Library (646 E Broadway)
- 7:50 AM: Summer Street across from Melcher (250 Summer Street)
Participants are encouraged to sign up in advance and select the stop that works best for them. From there, the group will collectively cycle to City Hall Plaza, where riders will be welcomed with free breakfast and coffee, along with vendors, exhibitors, and complimentary bike repairs between 7:30–9:30 AM You can register for free here:
