Charcuterie Boards are having a moment!
Celebrate the season at home with a charcuterie board! We asked our friends at American Provisions what the the key steps to creating the perfect board!
Andy Fadous, one of the owner of American Provisions offered us the following tips:
When it comes to making a cheese/charcuterie board there are no rules. Be random and add a variety of flavors, texture, and color.
Grab your favorite serving tray and make sure its a good size not to over crowd your meats and cheeses.
Choose a rounded selection of cheeses
- Start with our Harbison or our Mt. Alice for your soft cheese)
- Semi-soft cheese (our Marcel Petit Comte/ or our English Cheddars)
- Hard Cheese (aged gouda like our L’Amuse Gouda or Wilde Weide gouda)
- A nice blue cheese to round out the plate and finish off with! We have an amazing blue cheese at both shops called Stichelton. The name Stichelton itself comes from the ancient name of the village that would eventually be known as Stilton. Stichelton is the only traditional raw milk Stilton in the world.
Choose a curated selection of meats like salami, prosciutto, pate, a smokey speck and if you want to ball out we have Jamon Iberico de Bellota( Hogs roam freely while feasting on acorns which leads to a sweet and nutty ham. This ham is aged for 36 months.)
Add condiments like, mustards, jams, and honey.
a good way to cleanse a palate is to add some fresh fruit, olives and nuts ( grapes, berries, almonds, etc)
Choose good fresh bread and crackers to serve all this with.
Arrange on the board and serve!
