step it up!

The Woods School of Irish Dance is fired up!  The World Irish Dancing Championship is like the Super Bowl of Irish Step and it’s being held in their hometown of Boston March 24-31 at the Hynes Convention Center.  Over 5000 dancers from all over the world come to compete at this competition with almost 20,000 spectators expected to attend.  Ten of those 5000 competitors are from the Woods School of Irish Dance right here in South Boston.  Both Mary Rose McKenna and Delia Doherty (former characters of the month of April 2012 https://caughtinsouthie.com/people/characterofmonth/delia-and-mary) are competing in individual dances while the Woods School is represented again with an 8-hand Ceili with Shannon Woods, Catherine Woods, Mari Barry, Caitlyn Jackson, Aggie Michel, Molly O’Toole, Emily Hart, Maddie Medico.

Way to go girls!  We’ll be rooting for you!  And good luck Peggy Woods Doherty and Roseanne Woods McKenna – dance coaches and moms!

The competition kicks off on Sunday, March 24th.  For more information about the World’s visit http://www.clrg.ie/boston2013/
