Welcome to the Neighborhood – City Retreat

Cyndi Lauper says, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.”
Which is true. But, they also want to meet other girls to have fun with.
Michelle Wax has made it her mission to make sure girls all over the city have the opportunity to do just that.
In October she launched Boston Babes Social Club so that young women could form new female friendships in a comfortable, stress-free environment. With monthly events like Mimosas & Manifesting and Hot Yoga & Sips, guests were provided with self growth moments and most of all, time to socialize.
Despite the success of the events, Wax couldn’t help but think how much easier it would be to foster real connections in a space that was truly designed to accommodate that.
And so, The City Retreat was born.
Boston Babes’ home base is now at 516 E 2nd Street in Southie. Its grand opening was on July 10th, and members and some new faces came together to celebrate.
Wax wanted to create a space that was welcoming yet intimate, cozy but zesty. In her words, “the vibe is boho glam with a sprinkle of sparkle.” It’s meant to serve as an oasis away from the city.
While the space isn’t open 24/7, there are plenty of opportunities for you to experience it.
Anyone can rent out The City Retreat for a workshop or event, attend a Boston Babes Social Club event, book a private astrology reading, book a VIP coaching day and more.
Members get discounted rates on the above, get access to all events, get the space entirely to themselves for one day each month to do whatever they choose, have access to food and beverage (snacks are important) AND the chance to WFH on Fridays…from there! You’ll be putting WFTCR on your calendar in no time!
Whether you are new to Boston, are looking to meet girls who match your energy or are dealing with friends who have moved on to a different stage in life, you will be welcomed with open arms (and probably some sort of cold beverage) at any of the 4-5 monthly events you attend.
Some upcoming ones include Crafts & Coffee with making your own coastal cowgirl hat, Astrology Club: Full Moon Circle & Chillin and Summer Sips & Socializing.
Members gain access to events first, but if there are spots left, single event tickets are made available to non-members or those who want to try it out!
The great thing about these events, is even if you are planning on attending alone, you won’t have to worry about not knowing anyone when you walk through the door. Wax creates Instagram group chats for each event so you can get to know each other before! In fact, most attendees come solo.
To Wax, the most fulfilling part of doing all of this has been girls telling her, “I’ve met some of the best friends I have in Boston through these events.”

At the end of the day…Wax just wants girls to have fun.
