Keep those kids busy!

The South Boston Neighborhood House Education & Career Development Program has officially released the 2019 Summer Leadership/Intern Program (S.L.I.P.) applications for youth ages 11-14.

Twelve local youth will be selected to participate in this program.  First, you need to complete the written application and returning it to SBNH on or before May 3, 2019.   Interviews will be scheduled during the month of May and decisions will be made in early June.

The program is scheduled to begin in early July and run through the end of August.

About the program

This program will combine leadership development with an internship program where participants will be placed in a local business 2 days/week – 5 hours/each day.  This will help to foster their sense of responsibility, heighten their awareness of career opportunities, and teach them real skills such as working with others and the responsibilities that go along with having a job.  The other 2 days, youth will be involved in leadership & life skills development through trainings, workshops and outings such as volunteer activities, ropes course and team building – all designed to develop life skills, resiliency, leadership and decision-making skills.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to enjoy and have fun!

Participants will receive a stipend for participating in the program.

Applications are available at the South Boston Neighborhood House beginning April 12, 2019 and are due back on or before May 3, 2019.  If you have any questions, contact Caitlyn DeCarlo at 617-268-1619 x402 or email [email protected].
