Smart cookies

Being a Girl Scout isn’t just about selling cookies – these girls do it all.  Local Girl Scout Troop #09837 is a Junior Girl Scout Troop made up of Fifth Grade girls from South Boston Catholic Academy.

Over the past few years, the girls have been busy done such things as:

  • coat drives
  • care packages for soldiers
  • bake sales to raise funds for A Time for Tim Burke and the South Boston Neighborhood House
  • Christmas caroling at the Harbor Lights Nursing Home
  • helped raise funds along with Gatey CYO Basketball for a Time for Kylie Nagle.

This year not only is this troop continuing their focus on community service they’re learning about careers and positive self esteem.  Susan Devlin – owner of Nurture, opened her doors to the troop on Friday, February 10th.  Susan shared her experience of how she began her own successful business.  In addition to Susan’s business insight, she offered the girls tips on healthy skin and hair care.  The expert stylists at Nurture also treated the girls to a shampoo and hair styling.  The troop left looking gorgeous and their heads filled with positive knowledge from the always big hearted Susan Devlin.  Girl’s rule!

Thank you

A special thank you to Susan and the stylists from Nurture for a wonderful night from Troop Leaders Lisa Knight and Maureen Murray and of course the entire Girl Scout Troop #09837.
