You can bet your ass that if I had any friends I would throw one hell of a Friendsgiving.  There would be plenty of food and booze, merriment, hijinks, bonding, and of course a kick ass theme.  I LOVE a theme and think Friendsgiving is the perfect time to bust one out.  Since I’m not hosting Friendsgiving (due to the lack of friends and all) I figured I’d share some of my favorite Friendsgiving themes, use them in good health.

The One With The Friends Episodes
Friends basically invented Friendsgiving, so why not pay them homage with a Friends themed Friendsgiving?  Play all the Thanksgiving episodes of Friends via Netflix (try not to get too verklempt when Brad Pitt is on), make Chandler’s mac and cheese, put a raw turkey on your head, and battle family and friends in a game of touch football for the Geller Cup.  If you’re feeling really brave you can try to replicate Rachel’s beef, peas, and lady finger trifle.  Maternity pants optional.

Holiday Kickoff
My hatred of Black Friday runs deep, but it does serve one good and honorable purpose, as the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season.  Have a holiday open house for Friendsgiving!  Play your favorite holiday tunes (like New Kids On The Block Funky, Funky Christmas) on repeat and queue up some holiday movies.  My vote is non-traditional, so Die Hard, Gremlins, The Ref, Edward Scissorhands, and/or Lethal Weapon.

The Leftovers
The Leftovers is one of the best shows on television, and leftovers are one of the best parts of Thanksgiving, so let’s combine the two!  Order a mystery pie from your neighborhood grandpa pedo, slit a goat’s throat, bury a bird on the greenie, and have all your friends bring their Thanksgiving leftovers.  Up to you if you want to watch season one or two, you do you.

Small Business Saturday Power Brunch
Who says Friendsgiving can’t be celebrated in the morning?  Set up a bloody Mary and mimosa bar and grab a bunch of bagels and fixings (may I suggest Boston Bagel Company) and carbo-load for a long day of shopping.  We have a lot of great of small local businesses here in Southie, so spend Saturday checking them out and dropping some cheddar, after you booze and bagel up of course.

We’d love to see how you celebrate Friendsgiving.  Tag your pics with #SouthieFriendsgiving so we can see all the fun!
