The Return

When taking the T, you often come across strange sights every so often. Well, tomorrow don’t be alarmed if you see one big headed, fedora wearing, commuter lurking about at train stations, aboard trolleys, and riding on buses to spread the good news about the CharlieCard.

The MBTA has created a new mascot, Charlie – yes, from the Kingston Trio song – to help promote not only the card with his name but to let people know about the new CharlieCard store at Downtown Crossing

The good people at Mass Bay Credit Union helped to fund the return of Charlie on the MBTA.  “We’ve always supported public transportation in the city and the hard working people of the MBTA,” said Mass Bay Credit Union’s CEO John Thomas. “We’re happy to help bring Charlie back to Boston to thank those who use the T. We think that Charlie will be a great asset to the transportation system.”

Charlie will be at the Concourse at Downtown Crossing – home of the new store – for a Customer Appreciation Event on Saturday, August 25th from 10am-12pm.   Apparently the Kingston Trio was wrong.

Head to the CharlieCard store and buy yourself a CharlieCard!  (You’re still not using cash are you?)

Warning: Avoid direct eye contact and sudden movements.  Charlie can sense fear, so take the information pamphlet, shake his hand and quickly step aside.
