They ‘re back,!  Five amazing performers who got their start in the Orchard Park Housing Development in 1978 right here in Boston. The original – Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike and Ralph –  are known as New Edition.  Bobby left for a solo career and  Johnny Gill replaced him and in my opinion their music was always good!

I remember going on a field trip in 5thgrade to see them perform at The Children’s Museum; looking back on it,  that seems like a bizarre field trip –  and I can’t count how many times I saw them perform at The Boston Garden – yes, it was that long ago!

Well,  I’m revisiting my youth and heading to Mohegan Sun to see them AGAIN.  All six are touring together – yes, Bobby Brown too!

New Edition is known as one of the first “boy bands” and their name New Edition actually represents that they were a new edition of The Jackson Five – please tell me you know who the Jackson Five are!

New Edition is performing next weekend and the buzz around town is “everyone” is going. Being the New Edition super fan that I am, I can not wait for this trip!  While I’m there, I will be doing a little work for Caught in Southie too.  I’m planning on “catching” some New Edition fans like myself who just  happen to be Southie residents.

So if you are going, let me know and be on the look out for me!  I’ll be wearing my Bobby Brown pin from seventh grade if I can find it.  If St. Anthony comes through, I’ll be wearing that pin.  Now where is my flourescent pink Ocean Pacific coat?

If you are going to Mohegan Sun, let us know.

What is your favorite New Edition song?
