Where did you grow up? On Dorchester Ave. by Andrew Square

Where did you go to school? St. Augustine’s and South Boston High School

Where do you live now? In Chelsea with my wife Maureen

What do you do for work? I am a Corrections Officer at The Suffolk County House of Corrections / South Bay

What keeps you coming back to Southie? (This part of the interview went on for hours…. Uggg!)
Well, I come back to Southie almost every day – first and most important are the fabulous friends I have in Southie! Second, my favorite thing to do EAT and DRINK!!

Drum roll for this list:

  • L Street Tavern
  • The Cornerstone
  • Mul’s
  • Sal’s
  • Rondo’s
  • Sully’s
  • Land of Pizza

I also frequent The BAC for a great steam and Peter Welch’s gym to work on my athletic physique. I still bring my clothes to Sturgis Cleaners and of course The Murphy Skating Rink.  You will find my there nice and early on Sundays in the winter playing “old man” hockey. My latest venture in Southie was becoming a member at The South Boston Yacht Club – wow what a place, great people, great food & drinks… but no yacht, yet!

What do you miss most about living in Southie? Walking!  I miss being able to walk everywhere I want to go and basically just being in Southie!

What did you like most about growing up in Southie? Everything.  I spent many a day at The South Boston Boys and Girls Club.  I played Little League and Babe Ruth. I hung at “The Rink” and played South Boston Youth Hockey. There is no place in the world like South Boston.

Anything you would like to share with The Caught in Southie readers? Yes – I was on the self proclaimed famous Southie High hockey team – 1989 and 1990 – we almost made it – second place as state champs after losing to Bourne at the one and only Boston Garden.  That was one of the coolest thing I ever did – playing hockey in the famous Garden!

I was also a lead supporting extra in Gone Baby Gone with Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, Casey Affleck & Michelle Monaghan – did you see me?
