I enjoy drinking.  I like to go out with my friends during the week and on the weekends. I love having a glass of wine…or  three…or four – red in the winter, white in the summer.  If I am feeling adventurous, I’ll order an interesting cocktail.   Most recently, I tried the RC Dissle Dassle at Local 149…quite good…and then drank a bottle of Rose with two friends.   I  love a few summer BLL’s – Bud Light Limes (4-6) while on the beach with my girlfriends, and I’ll occasionally have a whiskey night cap…which I almost always regret the next morning.  I have a lot of fun.  Do I get drunk?  Yes and no.  I prefer phrasing it this way – On multiple occasions, I have been over-served.

I love mayo

Overall, I’d like to think that I am a somewhat healthy individual.  I don’t do drugs and I haven’t indulged in my social smoking habit since I turned thirty (July 24, 2011).  I go to the dentist twice a year, get regular checkups, work out every week and just recently started to do Bikram yoga.  I try to eat as healthy as possible at least Monday through Thursday.  If go out on Thursday night, and I am feeling sluggish on Friday, I’ll indulge a Chicken Schnity lunch from KO Catering and Pies on A Street (they are amazing).  I love mayo…that’s right…I said it…mayo.    I love my “Fat Sundays”where I eat whatever I want…cheeseburgers, steak and cheese eggrolls (put anything in an egg roll and I’ll eat it), frachos (waffle fries act as nachos), clam chowder you get the idea.  I’ll also have a few beers (3-5)  to ease the pain of Sunday night depression.

That’s a little crazy

A few weeks ago, I asked myself – “Do I drink too much?”  At first, I said, “No…I just know how to have a great time!”   I don’t always get drunk…I know when to stop when I am, I have never wet the bed, blacked out, and I have never been arrested.  When I worked through the denial stage and really started  to think about it, I realized that since I graduated high school (class of ’99),  I have not gone one week with out at least one drink.   Now…that’s a little crazy.  ??So, I am putting myself to the test.  I want to know how big of a role alcohol plays in my life.  I want to see if I can go 30 days without a drink…not one sip of alcohol. To provide some entertainment and to torture myself a little more, I signed on for a 30 day Bikram yoga challenge…1 class per day….90 minutes…105 degrees.

What am I going to do on the weekends?

Am I scared?  Yes…not so much about the yoga…as miserable as that is…but of not being able to have a social drink for a whole month!  What the hell am I going to do on the weekends???  It’s not going to be easy…but I hope to be more productive, healthier, and maybe even lose a few lbs.  (I will not give up mayo).  I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my progress.  Wish me luck.  ??
This challenge starts today – Tuesday, September 6th, 2011??
Challenge # 1:  30 days. No drinking.
??Challenge # 2:  30 days of Bikram Yoga (1 class per day. 90 minutes. 105 degrees)
