Southie Restaurant News: One Door Closes/Another Opens
Back in April, KO Pies announced via twitter they would be taking a “extended break” and moving their Southie employees to their East Boston location where they will be “focusing all of their energies.”
Well, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, KO pies has officially sold its building at A and 3rd. No surprise at all since that neighborhood is quickly transforming into condo central including Port45, the new development taking over Coppersmith across the street, and the development replacing William’s Tavern. Oh well, another one bites the dust! No word what will replace the building that KO resided in yet, but if we’re going to bet, we’d say condos!
In other restaurant news, we are so excited to learn that James Beard Award Winner for Best Chef: Northeast, Karen Akunowicz was at the West Broadway Neighborhood Association meeting on Monday night to discuss her plans to open The Fox and the Knife! Sounds like it’s opening soon!
The 75-seat restaurant will be “an Italian-inspired neighborhood enoteca that is just a warm, welcoming neighborhood joint.” Fox and the Knife will take over the old Maiden spot!
Never went to the Maiden but is there really room for 75 seats in there? Seems too small but maybe it’s deeper than you can tell from the street.
