Who won?

If you haven’t heard by now, a VERY unhappy diner at Pigalle (75 Charles St. South) decided to take out her dissatisfaction with her meal on social media.  Sandy Tremblay of Nashua NH (yes, we know, Nashua), apparently did not like her dinner at the French restaurant on Thanksgiving so much so that she ripped it apart on the Pigalle Facebook page.  She even compared the pumpkin pie to tasting like vomit.

Marc Orfaly, owner of Pigalle and Southie resident, responded to Ms. Tremblay’s public and downright mean criticism with an emphatic, “Hey, Sandy, go fuck yourself.”  For those of you who aren’t familiar with Pigalle or Chef Orfaly – this is no greasy spoon and Orfaly is no short order cook.  Food & Wine Magazine named Orfaly one of its 10 Best New Chefs for 2004 and Orfaly is also a James Beard Nominated chef.

After Orfaly’s response, the heated exchanged continued on Facebook with other posters getting in on the action – a real shit show.

In the end, clearer heads prevailed and Orfaly apologized for his response.

So who won this battle?  We say Pigalle and Marc Orfaly.  He defended himself, his restaurant, his reputation and his livelihood – who can blame him?  As for Tremblay, there has to be a better, more constructive forum to air your complaints, right? What she did was intentionally mean spirited and really that’s not very nice.

Pigalle is the hot topic of conversation and any publicity is good publicity.  We hear their phone is ringing off the hook with reservations.

This article screams favor to a Southie chef for some comped meals. Both parties acted like little shool kids, and worse they did it online like cowards. No winners.
