Barbara Lynch Is Closing All of Her Remaining Restaurants

Well, that’s a bummer.
Southie native and celebrity chef Barbara Lynch will be closing all her remaining restaurants. According to Eater Boston, The Rudder is closed effective immediately, No. 9 Park will close at the end of the year, and B&G’s exact closing date has not yet been finalized.
In January, it was reported that Menton, Sportello, and Drink—located in Fort Point—would close immediately. While Lynch’s South End restaurants, The Butcher Shop and Stir, were sold off.
Lynch said via statement regarding the closures, “I am very proud of what I have achieved over three decades, creating these much-loved entities where so many of you chose to celebrate your special occasions. The harsh realities of the global pandemic and the many difficulties faced calls for significant investment, which neither myself nor my fellow shareholders are positioned to do.”
Considered a driving force in the restaurant industry, Lynch put Boston on the map with her James Beard award-winning restaurant No. 9 Park.
