Remember a long time ago, when we were really excited about Chef Mario Batali opening up shop in Fort Point, only to be disappointed because a lease at 320 Summer Street could not be negotiated? Well, guess what? Time to get excited again! According to the Boston Globe, Babbo Pizzeria will open its doors at Eleven Fan Pier on the South Boston Waterfront.
This 8,700 square foot restaurant will serve up wood-fire pizza, pasta, and antipasti. It will also include a patio and private funtion rooms.
Batali is a cookbook author, and co-host of ABC’s The Chew. He also owns over 20 restaurants including the flagship Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca in New York and Otto Enoteca Pizzerias in New York. Batali joins the bandwagon of celebrity chefs with restaurants in South Boston including Southie’s own Barbara Lynch and Ming Tsai of Blue Dragon.
So we shall see, Southie. The choices for amazing food and nightlife continues to grow and grow.
