First save this date, Wednesday, June 20th 7pm, for an incredible evening at Medicine Wheel Productions (110 K Street, 02127) with Todd Lester. 

 

Todd is a champion of helping and protecting journalists and artists of all disciplines around the world and he founded freeDimensional (fD) which works with artist residency programs in over 80 countries to host culture workers in dire situations. He recently assumed the role of Executive Director for Global Arts Corps, an organization that creates theatrical productions to advance the cause of reconciliation across civil, religious, and racial conflicts.

Through July 15th- the work of Charline von Heyl who is “A painter known for her vibrant, insistent, enigmatic paintings and works on paper, Charline von Heyl demonstrates that abstraction is intensely relevant in contemporary art.” Also on view  are Heyl’s collaged based works on paper.

Opening this week At LaMontagne Gallery is Everything changes everything. This is North Adams based artist Kim Faler’s first Boston solo show. From the gallery’s website: “In her sculpture, photography and drawing, Faler explores nuances of domestic space within the white cube. She takes objects such as magazines, a chain link fence, a potted plant or a taxidermied bear and re-contextualizes them by shifts in scale and material.” LaMontagne Gallery (555 East Second St., South Boston 02127)

Up till June 23rd at Proof Gallery is a solo show of work by Caitlin Berrigan. The show is entitled Secondary Sex Characteristics.  According to the press release: “Caitlin Berrigan lovingly inscribes the flecks, curls, and tangles of her subjects’ chest and nipple hair. The ink on vellum drawings linger perversely within notions of the secondary, the trivial, and the liminal. On view at the FPAC Gallery until July 5th, work From The Compound: Roswell Artists in Residence. Featuring work by Angela Fraleigh, Nathan Craven, Anna Hepler, Wesley Heiss, Shona MacDonald, Jennifer Moses, and Heidi Pollard.
