September 1st is upon us, which means moving trucks, double parking, traffic, and general chaos across Boston. And according to a new analysis of City permit data, South Boston is actually busier than Allston when it comes to moving permits this year.

The report, put together by Ahmed of Sagamore Studio using Boston and Cambridge permit data, found 3,806 moving permits issued during the nine days surrounding September 1, spread across 1,537 city blocks. On September 1 alone, 1,296 moving trucks had permits in Boston.

Southie leads Allston with 845 permits over the nine-day period compared to Allston’s 665. As of September 1, South Boston has 327 moving permits, compared to 253 in Allston.

And because moving day apparently isn’t stressful enough, 428 permits are on blocks scheduled for street cleaning that same day. You can check out Ahmed’s report complete with maps and a neighborhood breakdown table here.
