    Why such a short route?

    • Maureen Dahill March 14, 2022 at 8:33 am - Reply

I believe due to BPD shortage they are trying to keep the parade to one contained route.

I remember the Parade when it was really THE PARADE! Back in the day: 1950’s-80’s. We were really lucky
on St Pat’s Day. We lived at 88 P Street. It was just where the Parade made the turn off 4th St onto P and then onto E Bdway. We had front row seats both outside and inside the from all 3 Floors. Weather was never an issue for us. We always had Open House for both Neighbors and our extended relatives. It was always a full house with plenty of HOLY WATER (wink). Everyone believed that since the Holy Water was blessed no one could get drunk. By the time the parade was over no one could stand or bless themselves. Also lots of Corn Beef and cabbage. I miss those days very much especially the people. Happy St Pat’s Day!

The map and the description don’t match. When the parade reaches G st is it going right or left around the hill?

      Here’s the update map! https://caughtinsouthie.com/ultimate-guide-to-st-patricks-day-in-south-boston/2023-parade-route/

Doesn’t the parade takes a right off “K” street onto east fifth street up to “G” street not east sixth street

    • Maureen Dahill March 10, 2023 at 8:38 am - Reply

They changed it back to sixth – which I guess was the original route until the 80’s when it was changed to east fifth to go by the Gate of Heaven Rectory.

Ok I’m confused about discrepancy if the parade route! Is it going from K street up 6th to G street or East 5th street?? Confusing data out there!

    • Maureen Dahill March 13, 2023 at 12:53 pm - Reply

Agree- the parade organizers have changed it a few times. Looks like as of last posting – they are going up 5th.
