Southie Shoutout: Jake Harrison – D3 All American for Basketball
Let’s hear it for Southie native and Western New England University basketball player Jake Harrison on recently being named a member of the D3 All-American team for basketball! Additionally, the Golden Bear’s 6’5 forward was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year and made the D3hoops.com First Team All-Region.
According to www.wnegoldenbears.com, Harrison played in and made starts in 27 games this season for Western New England, averaging 17.1 points per game on the year, averaging 34.4 minutes per game while shooting 55.5% from the field. The sophomore ripped down 9.1 rebounds per game and dished 5.9 assists per game while also collecting 2.1 steals and 0.8 blocks per game, respectively. Harrison led Western New England in nearly every statistical category this season while also leading the CCC in total assists (158), assists per game (5.9), free throw attempts (194) and triple doubles (1). Harrison’s 158 total assists on the season ranks ninth in the NCAA. The South Boston, Massachusetts native sees himself rank in the tops in all of NCAA Division III men’s basketball in assists per game (17th), free throw attempts (6th), total free throws (13th), and triple doubles (2nd). Harrison becomes the first Golden Bear to win CC Player of the Year in the program’s history.
Not only is Harrison a very talented hoops player, but he is also a dean lists student.
