South Boston Christmas Stroll & Tree Lighting! Kick off the holiday season with a host of activities as well promotions from local businesses. Have fun and, sip, shop and dine local all in one night! Enjoy a special tree lighting on East Broadway in front of the library, a visit from Santa and some old fashioned carolers!  This much anticipated neighborhood event takes place on Thursday, November 29th at 4pm.

Light Up the Seaport! Please join us in celebrating the most magical season of the year at our third annual tree lighting, Light Up Seaport on Friday, November 30th at 6pm. Enjoy live holiday tunes, treats from Seaport restaurants, and giveaways! You’re also invited you to warm up in adjacent District Hall as you explore A Year in Seaport, a new photography exhibit opening in celebration of our incredible neighborhood. This program highlights powerful visuals captured across the community in the past 365 days, and showcases the work of Fort Point resident George Vasquez, who has been documenting all of the development and movement in Seaport since last year’s holiday season. Drinks are available for purchase at Gather, and activities will be set out for the littler Light Up guests. This holiday event celebrates Seaport’s support of Massachusetts Fallen Heroes and The Gavin Foundation.

Jingle Bell Run! Put on your Santa hat, lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for a great local school – South Boston Catholic Academy. On Saturday, December 1st at 10am join your friends and neighbors and run a 5K race along the South Boston beaches. Start and finish is at South Boston Catholic Academy at 866 East Broadway. Stick around for a post-race party with prizes, raffles, food and fun! There is also fun for the kids on deck too with two youth races. At 9:15 – 100 Meter Dash for kids (9 and under) and at 9:30 a 1/2 mile run (14 and under). If you preregister by November 30th, it’s $30. Post-registration is $35. Oh Christmas Tree! On Sunday, December 9th at 12pm, head to M Street Park for a good old fashioned tree lighting complete with Santa, carols, hot chocolate and more! For the 23rd year, the Mayor’s Enchanted Trolley Tour will continue the festive tradition of lighting holiday trees while bringing holiday spirit to children across Boston. There will be pony rides and baby goats to pet! Famed balloon artist Lou Johnson will be back again this year to create amazing balloon animals for the kids! Last year juggler Tim Ellis delighted the crowd and we’re happy to report he’ll be back again this year to entertain everyone! Another exciting addition this year is the New England Revolution mascot, Slyde the Fox! Slyde and the Revolution Street Team will be there with giveaways!

Build a Gingerbread House! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Join the Boston Harbor Hotel for the first-annual Gingerbread Workshop. Guaranteed to be a day full of holiday spirit, with a second date now added! On Sunday December 2ND from 1PM-4PM, guests are invited into the picturesque Wharf Room for a festive day with the entire family decorating a gingerbread house crafted by Boston Harbor Hotel’s talented pastry team. While decorating their house with candies and sweets, guests can sip on delicious hot-chocolate from the specialty hot-chocolate bar and cozy up to watch The Polar Express. The afternoon will commence with a special surprise as Santa makes his appearance on the Boston Harbor. Special boxes will be provided so guests can take home their gingerbread masterpieces home safely. There will also be a cash bar for guests who are 21+ and a candy bar for all ages. Tickets to the Gingerbread Workshop are $65 per household* and can be purchased on Eventbrite. Limit 2 guests per house, children under 2 are complimentary, tax and gratuity included.

Boston Women’s Market presents their first annual 50Makers Holiday Hall! Gift small this holiday season while supporting women-owned businesses throughout New England. The Holiday Hall will be held at the Marriott AC Hotel in Boston’s South End.  Grab your friends, kiddos, and hubby and shop handmade and ethically-sourced goods, art, and food from amazing women makers.  Enjoy the sounds of Random Chants, and all-women Boston-based a cappella group! Grab a hot cup of Hot Chocolate at our donation-based Hot Chocolate Bar.
