Mad for Mad Men
Disappointed Mad Men fans can get their 1960’s fix with Banana Republic’s new Mad Men the capsule collection.
Originally slated to coincide with the long-awaited return of the 5th season of the AMC series Mad Men, the collection will hit stores on August 11th despite the fact that the Mad Men return has been pushed back to next year.
The 65 piece line for men and women is inspired by the sixties wardrobe the cast wears on the show. Mad Men costume designer Jamie Bryant worked directly with Banana Republic on the line and many pieces came directly from the show. The collection capture the lady-like elegance of the era with high waisted pencil skirts, tie neck blouses, and leopard accessories, while the men’s line includes sharp suits, sweaters and the 60’s wardrobe staple – the fedora.
Picture yourself in one of those body hugging Joan Holloway dresses – a sure way to wow the fellas in the office. And gentleman, transform yourself from ordinary to the the dashing Don Draper in a fitted charcoal suit and skinny tie.
Stand outs in the collection:
Women: Leopard trench and bright blood- orange silk floral dress
Men: Black Tuxedo, silk pocket squares and fitted charcoal trousers
Insider’s tip:
AMC and Banana are co-sponsoring the Mad Men casting call, in which you can compete for a walk-on role and a $1,000 BR shopping spree.?
As for the 5th season of Mad Men, us addicts will have to wait another year to get our fix.
