Like many people, I have a very difficult time letting go of summer.  Now that we are  nearing the end of August, I am beginning to accept the fact that cooler weather is on it’s way.  Although I am sad about saying goodbye to airy summer dresses and open toed shoes, I am so excited for fall fashion!

Seeing the new fall collections trickle into stores can be overwhelming.  Stay calm and remember, don’t buy anything unless you absolutely 110% love it!   To guide you on your shopping excursions and help you transition your wardrobe to fall below are 5 trends to be on the look out for this season.

1.  Maxi skirts

Why:  Maxi skirts were a summer staple and these longer lengths are still in for fall!  Maxi skirts are ever so comfie and can elongate your frame provided you style it right!

Style Tip:  With a long flowy skirt, be sure to define one body part.  Pair with a simple fitted v-neck tee or tank and a cropped denim jacket.  Throw on a pair of flats or a chunky heeled loafer (also in for fall)

2.  Red Hues

Why:  From bright tomato red to deep burgundy tones, red ruled the runways!

Style Tip:  Try working this color into your wardrobe with a pair of red skinny jeans.  Roll the cuffs at the bottom and wear with wedge booties and chunky knit sweater or a basic tee and fitted blazer.

3.  Chunky Knits

Why:  Who doesn’t love a cozy, chunky knit for fall?!   The knits this season are more structured and in both cropped and hip lengths.

Style tip:  Pick one up in a basic black and pair with dark skinny jeans and wedge booties for a classic look.  You could also be bold in a electric blue knit and pair it with a black maxi skirt and rugged boots.

4.  Structured Bags

Why:  A structured bag is classic, practical, and sophisticated!

Style Tip:  Wear it morning, noon, and night and with everything from sweatpants and a trench (morning coffee attire)  to skinny jeans and chunky knits, to your favorite work dress!  No matter what you pair it with, this ladylike purse will instantly pull your look together.

5.  Heeled Loafers

Why:  Classic shoes with a sophisticated new twist!

Style Tip:  Much like the structured bag, you can wear these loafers with everything from fun skirts and sleek trousers to casual boyfriend jeans. These will be your go-to-shoes all season!
