Since it was placed in its stand near the municipal lot, the West Broadway Christmas tree has not been without controversy. 

We realize that local, neighborhood trees will not look like the one at Rockerfeller Center, but this one might be the saddest tree in all of Boston.

When we first spotted the tree, we thought, “This is the best we can do?” Evidently, we weren’t the only ones who thought this. Southie residents took to social media and called out the giant Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

City Councilor Ed Flynn offered us a glimmer of Christmas hope with the possibility of a new tree.  But apparently, no luck. 

If you would like to show your support for the saddest tree in Boston, head down to West Broadway at 6:30pm.  Candy canes will be given out as they flip the switch to light it up!  Let’s all gather around, hold hands and sing like the residents of Whoville did in the Grinch and show this tree some love!
