Many believe it is good for one’s health and one’s immune system can benefit from regular cold water plunges. This belief is part of the foundation of the L Street Brownies – the oldest “polar bear” club in America and for over 100 years the polar plunge has been part of the neighborhood culture!  You can get the details here!

NYE Ice Sculpture Stroll

Boston Harbor Now’s signature New Year’s Eve Waterfront Ice Sculpture Stroll is back! Get ready to count down to 2023 with over TWO dozen ice sculptures hosted by businesses and cultural sites across the waterfront. It’ll be the largest Waterfront Ice Sculpture Stroll EVER! Also enjoy Touch-A-Truck and Touch-a-Boat kids’ events from noon to 4pm at the Envoy Hotel, and stick around into the night for Year’s End Fireworks to ring in 2023!  This event is free and you can learn more here!

NHL Winter Classic Plaza

National Hockey League (NHL®) will hold NHL Winter Classic Plaza™, a two-day free, non-ticketed fan festival on December 30th and December 31st on the newly reopened City Hall Plaza. There will be interactive hockey-themed activities, including appearances by Boston Bruins alumni, autograph sessions featuring current and former Boston Bruins greats, family-friendly hockey interactives, giveaways, food, and an appearance by the oldest trophy in sports – the Stanley Cup®. NHL Winter Classic Plaza™ will run Friday, December 30 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, December 31 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. A full list of activities that are free and open to the public can be found here.

First Night Boston

First Night Boston, New England’s largest New Year’s Eve party, returns to celebrate the start of 2023 in Boston’s Back Bay. The free and family-friendly event runs from 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022 through 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, 2023, and resumes on New Year’s Day with live performances in Copley Square from 11:00 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. The event features a wide range of local musicians, artists, and performers at indoor and outdoor venues throughout the Back Bay.

Expect dazzling ice sculptures, the “First Night Boston Parade,” a laser and pyrotechnic show, and two sets of fireworks to excited audiences. Local performers will step into the spotlights at Boston Public Library, Copley Place, Boston Common, and surrounding churches. From organ concerts to hip-hop, and country music to figure skating, a full schedule and event details are now available at www.firstnightboston.org.

Sports

The Bruins face off against the Sabres on Saturday at 1pm. The Celtics face the Nuggets on Sunday at 8pm.  The Patriots play the Dolphins on Sunday at 1pm – Squish the Fish! Here are 10 Places to Watch the Game!
