Eat:
Back from the dead! It’s the resurrection of The Playwright! The legendary Southie bar will open its doors once again on Friday, August 24th at 4pm! The menu will feature favorites like Mac N’ Cheese, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Cowboy Steak Salad, the Playwright Burger and the Mexican Wrap!  We can’t wait!

Drink:
Welcome back Shenannigan’s! After a long hiatus, thanks to a burst pipe, Shennigan’s is back with a new look and a new menu! Stop by this weekend and raise your glass! Try the new Blush Sour made with Jameson, lemon juice, simple syrup and blackberries!

Shop:
Saturday is National Second Hand Wardrobe Day! Southie has some of the best consignment shops around including Boston Magazine Best of WinnersBest of Winners Recollective Dew Luxe, Covet  and Go Garbaj! Make a plan to hunt and gather and find some designers hidden in the racks and shelves like Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs! Here are some tips to help you navigate consignment shops like a boss. 

Play:
The Lawn on D will be hosting some fun this weekend! On Friday enjoy some bubble soccer! Get together a team of 5 and win sweet prizes for the top performers! PLUS, get a custom koozie with the New Belgium logo of choice. On Saturday, see a free screening of everyone’s favorite childhood classic, The Sandlot! Anyone attending the movie will receive a raffle ticket to win Red Sox tickets (drawing at the end of the movie). Plus, Truly will be onsite with some really neat swag beginning at 6:30.

Treat:
Treat yourself to some ice cream! Cranberry Cafe is now serving ice cream and other tasty treats. Stop by and treat yourself! From classic cones and frappes, to hot fudge sundaes, the Cranberry has got you covered! Cranberry Cafe is opened : Mon-Tue 6am – 9pm Wed-Fri 6am – 9pm Sat 7 am – 9 pm Sun 9am – 9pm.  Stop by!

See:
Old Ironsides is making a turnaround on Friday, August 24th around 12pm at Castle Island. Head out around 11am to watch the USS Constitution in all her glory! While you’re out there you might as well treat yourself to lunch at Sullivan’s right?

Do:
Hop on a ferry and head to the ICA’s Water Shed in East Boston! It’s located at the Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina in East Boston—right across from their Seaport location and connected by ferry. The installation will be open through October 8, but now’s an excellent time to visit if you’re hoping to do something that gets you out of the heat. Here’s everything you need to know! 

Listen:
Listen to the music.  Music at Marine, a live music event at the bandstand Marine Park on Farragut Road, takes place on Thursday, August 23rd at 6:30pm. A local favorite, Curragh’s Fancy will be performing!  Don’t forget your beach chair or blanket! On Saturday, August 25th enjoy a free concert at Dorchester Heights from 6pm-8pm with singer Anna Maria Villa. There will also be lawn games, face painting and make and take art!

Workout:
On Fridays enjoy a lunchtime yoga class with Jenna Hill in the Seaport District at 12pm at 5:30pm take Booty by Brabants! Both workouts are free and part of Seaport Sweats! Stick around after and explore this part of the neighborhood!

Breath and Move:
Enjoy a free all-levels vines flow at Castle Island Yoga on July 21st from 10:15am-11:30am taught by Yoga Around Town. Bring your own mat or towel and meet Castle Island near the information sign at Fort Independence. Classes are FREE, but we ask that you register. Walk-ups are available on a limited basis. Please register to ensure your spot in the class! 

Visit:
Back to the Beach! Enjoy the Dorchester Beach Festival at Savin Hill/Malibu Beach on Saturday, August 25th from 3pm-8:30pm. Featuring Dot Art craft activities, face painting, games, and more! Boston Circus Guild will be performing from 3pm-5pm and live music will kick off at 5pm with Gimme 5 (R&B and Beatles Tribute Band. There will also be food trucks on site to make sure you don’t go hungry! It’s the perfect to end the summer season!
