Dedication! Join the South Boston Arts Association for a dedication of the new mural at Harry McDonough Castle Island Sailing Center on Monday, September 19th at 6pm.  This mural features the work of local artists Janette Chaparro, Paul Conley, Claire Conway, Dennis Conway, Billy Frew, Dan McCole, Don Mejra, Debby O’Toole, Patti Steiner and Tom Steiner. The painting is a replica of the painting ‘Landing the Curragh’ by Irish artist John Skelton. The work is in keeping with the mission of the members of the association to advance all phases of ‘the Arts’ for the enjoyment of the residents of South Boston and the many visitors to our community.

Sip & shop!  Calling all Southie fashionistas!  Our favorite South Boston handbag designer, Lindsay Tia is launching her new fall line and it’s simply gorgeous.  Think rich, buttery leather in colors like chocolate brown, pale pinks, metallic and even camo!  We are also excited about her new line of adorably delicate charm necklaces that will make you want them all!  We are celebrating the launch on Thursday, September 22nd from 5pm-9pm at her shop!  Stop by and celebrate with us!   There will be wine and cheese too!

Celebrate! The Dedham Institution for Savings is celebrating its new branch location at 636 East Broadway in Southie with a Grand Opening Celebration for not one day but 3 days of festivities!  Stop by September 22nd to the 24th and enjoy complimentary refreshments from local South Boston providers, giveaway sunglasses, and a raffle.  Prizes include a two night stay at Boston’s Seaport Hotel, a Boston Harbor Cruise for two, and dinner for four at Capo plus gift cards from your favorite local merchants!  Sweet!

Run, Southie, Run!  Peter Welch’s Gym will be running the streets of Southie twice a week!  If you’d like to join them head to Moakley Park track on Tuesday mornings at 6am and Thursday evenings at 6:30pm.  All levels, varying routes beginning this week!

Music and Movement!  Sarah Gardner presents her popular music and movement program in a new location, at the South Boston Neighborhood House.  This fun, interactive program for babies and toddlers under age 3 includes lots of instruments, dancing, singing, and more.  Please be sure to bring $5 cash per child for each session.  Sarah Gardner appears through a partnership between the South Boston Neighborhood House and the Friends of the South Boston Library.  Ms. Laura, the children’s librarian, will have books available to be borrowed after the music program.  Thursdays, 10:30 a.m., through October 20th.  The Neighborhood House is located at 136 H Street at the corner of H Street and 6th.
