Box for Irish Step!  Take a women’s boxing class on Friday September 21st at 7pm at Grealish Boxing Club at 79 Freeport Street.  This hour long class will get your heart pumping and it will be helping raise money for the Woods School of Irish Dance!  Cost is $20.  To reserve your spot text Nicola at 617-449-8391.

Trivia and Cocktails! Calling all trivia buffs and cocktail nerds! Grab some friends and join Grand Ten Distilling on Thursday, September 20th for their next edition of Tipsy Trivia! Sip on delicious craft cocktails while our host quizzes you on everything from drunken authors to brewing science to the history of vintage spirits and cocktails. Trivia will kick off around 7pm, so get here a little early to grab yourself a seat at the bar. Prizes will be given to the top two teams at 9:00pm.

Cocktails and Flowers!  On Monday, September 24th at 6:30pm, Capo is hosting a special floral arrangement class with Alice’s Table.  Tickets are $75 and include flower arranging class and a Capo signature cocktail!  Stick around for Comedy Night at the Supper Club after.  Get your tickets here! 

Support Team Ollie!  On Thursday, September 20th at 6pm, Team Ollie will Kickoff their fundraising efforts for the Rodman Ride for Kids at Coppersmith.  Enjoy a night of raffles, live music, food, and drinks.  The 50/50 Raffle tickets are $100 each for a chance to win up to $10,000! Raffle tickets can be purchsed ahead of time here on eventbrite or in person. The winner will be drawn at the event. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here!

Raise your stein, it’s Oktoberfest at Dorchester Brewing!  It’s that time of year – cooler temperatures, leaves changing color and Oktoberfest! Dorchester Brewing is celebrating the official Oktoberfest Kick-Off with lots of fresh Oktoberfest beer served in traditional German liter steins. If you needed any excuse to wear that German lederhosen and dirndls hanging in your closet, then nows your chance! This festive celebration with expanded capacity (plenty of room for all!) will make you feel like you’re in Munich including a live German band, traditional food and all things Oktoberfest and to keep things going, they also got a DJ to end the night!Doors open at 11:30am – first 300 people to purchase an Oktoberfest beer gets a free branded Oktoberfest mug (one per person)!This event is FREE!  For more details visit here!

Apply and preserve!  The City of Boston is accepting applications for fall funding for the Community Preservation Act.  This fund helps with affordable housing, historic preservation, parks and open space.  Deadline is September 28th.  Get more information here! 

Island run.  If you like to run then you’ll love this adventure!  Head to Spectacle Island on Sunday, September 22nd for a 5K or 5M for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Island Run.  Registration Fee: $50 – includes lunch, post celebration beverages (must be 21+) and boat ride.   Learn more here! 

Be informed.  Get involved.  The BPDA will host a meeting on the Edison redevelopment project on Wednesday, September 19th at 6pm at the Tynan.  Public feedback on this project is needed.  Let your opinion and ideas be heard!

Save the Date: On Saturday, September 29th at 10am head to Marine Park for a dedication of the Bandstand to Southie’s own Harry Ullman.  Harry has been a great friend to the South Boston community with his work for over 25 years with the South Boston Special Kids and Adults.  Stop by and enjoy this neighborhood celebration.
