Let’s stroll! Kick off the holiday season with a host of activities as well promotions from local businesses at the South Boston Holiday Stroll. Have fun and, sip, shop and dine local all in one night! Enjoy a special tree lighting on East Broadway in front of the library, a visit from Santa and some old fashioned carolers!  This much anticipated neighborhood event takes place on Thursday, November 29th at 4pm.  To see a full list of participating shops and discounts and deals, visit here! 

Be inspired! This December marks the 28th annual Laboure Christmas House Tour of South Boston. Hosted by Catholic Charities, this important fundraiser features homes in South Boston decorated for Christmas by local designers.  Five homes are selected and decorated by a team of Boston professional design firms and opened to the public by the generous homeowners to raise money for the social services provided by Catholic Charities Laboure Center.  Purchase a ticket today!   There are two tours  – Saturday, December 1st at 4pm and Sunday, December 2nd at 12pm.  The Laboure is also hosting a holiday home decor sale that weekend too!  Saturday, December 1st 10am-8pm and Sunday, December 2nd 10am-4pm. Ready, set, go! Put on your Santa hat, lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for a great local school – South Boston Catholic Academy. On Saturday, December 1st at 9am join your friends and neighbors and run a 5K race along the South Boston beaches. Start and finish is at South Boston Catholic Academy at 866 East Broadway. Stick around for a post-race party with prizes, raffles, food and fun! There is also fun for the kids on deck too with two youth races. At 9:00am – 100 Meter Dash for kids (9 and under) and at 9:30 a 1/2 mile run (14 and under). If you preregister by November 30th, it’s $30. Post-registration is $35. Light it up! On Sunday, December 2nd at 12pm, head to M Street Park for a good old fashioned tree lighting complete with Santa, carols, hot chocolate and more! For the 23rd year, Mayor Marty Walsh’s Enchanted Trolley Tour will continue the festive tradition of lighting holiday trees while bringing holiday spirit to children across Boston. There will be pony rides and baby goats to pet! Famed balloon artist Lou Johnson will be back again this year to create amazing balloon animals for the kids! Last year juggler Tim Ellisdelighted the crowd and we’re happy to report he’ll be back again this year to entertain everyone! Another exciting addition this year is the New England Revolution mascot, Slyde the Fox! Slyde and the Revolution Street Team will be there with giveaways!

Light Up the Seaport! Please join us in celebrating the most magical season of the year at our third annual tree lighting, Light Up Seaport on Friday, November 30th at 6pm. Enjoy live holiday tunes, treats from Seaport restaurants, and giveaways! You’re also invited you to warm up in adjacent District Hall as you explore A Year in Seaport, a new photography exhibit opening in celebration of our incredible neighborhood. This program highlights powerful visuals captured across the community in the past 365 days, and showcases the work of Fort Point resident George Vasquez, who has been documenting all of the development and movement in Seaport since last year’s holiday season. Drinks are available for purchase at Gather, and activities will be set out for the littler Light Up guests. This holiday event celebrates Seaport’s support of Massachusetts Fallen Heroes and The Gavin Foundation.

See a show!  The Fourth Presbyterian Church Children’s Theater presents Seussical the Musical on Friday, November 30th and Saturday, December 1st at 7pm.  Children ages 5 to 12 perform all your favorites from this musical!  This event is FREE but donations will be collected to help fund scholarships to the program!

Donate! It’s the Fifth Annual Warm Accessories Drive for the South Boston Neighborhood House!  Drop off warm gloves and hats to the South Boston Post Office now through mid December.  Look for the box in the lobby!  This is the the perfect time of years to help out our fellow South Boston neighbors in need!
