Be informed. Get involved. The Ward 6&7 Democratic Committees will host a State Representative forum on Tuesday, July 10th from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Candidates Matt Rusteika and David Biele will be on hand to discuss local issues. This event takes place at the Curley Rec. Center. All are encouraged to attend.
Neighborhood nights! The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is opening its doors on July 12th free of charge, for families and residents to experience live music, performances, art-making, and creative experimentation while also exploring the galleries. This free, specially-themed series of fun, interactive activities for you and your family features music, dance, performance, gallery games, garden activities and hands-on art making beginning at 5pm. Another neighborhood night will take place on August 9th too.
The Great Outdoors! L.L.Bean has partnered with leading co-working provider, Industrious, to introduce the first-ever outdoor co-working space, and launch an initiative to bring more outdoor time into the workday with the introduction of “Be an Outsider at Work.” The initiative will come to Boston at The Greenway’s Wharf District Park Tuesday, July 10 to Thursday, July 12, complete with individual workspaces, collaborative conference areas, cycling desks and outdoor team-building activities – giving new meaning to being “Out of Office.” This space will be open to the public from 9am-5pm complete with wifi, power and collaborative workspaces, designed by Industrious. Everyone is invited to reserve a free workspace at www.BeAnOutsiderAtWork.com or stop by the park. L.L.Bean’s Outdoor Discovery Program experts will also be on-site to facilitate short team-building exercises, which will involve a group problem-solving activity designed to highlight teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. These team-building exercises can also be booked.
Fore! Register this week for the annual Mass Bay Credit Union Golf Tournament! This fun event takes place on Tuesday, August 14th at the Cape Club of Sharon and begins at11am with registration followed by a shotgun start at 12pm at 5pm a special cocktail and dinner reception. Price is $230 per golfer and $920 for a foursome. Fee includes green fees, golf cart, boxed lunch, dinner and use of locker rooms. For more information, email Maren at [email protected]. Public Safety! With recent concerns over the safety of Day Boulevard and Farragut Road, Mass DOT and DCR are partnering up for a special public information meeting on Wednesday, July 18th from 6:30pm-8:30pm regarding the Day Boulevard Targeted Safety Improvement Project (State Police Driveway to Farragut Road). This meeting will take place at the Curley Community Center.
Free lunch! Boston Summer Eats! This summer all kids and teens (18 and under) can get a free meal at City Hall Plaza! Lunch will be served weekdays from 11:30-1:30 beginning Monday, July 9th. Can make it to City Hall Plaza – check out meals4kids.com for other locations!
Pitch in: Special Beach Cleanup! Roll up your sleeves with ThreeMain and Rozalia Project on Thursday, July 12th for a fun and educational beach cleanup. This family-friendly event features a full morning of fun, educational activities. Lend a helping hand to keep our beach environment clean and beautiful; learn from our nonprofit partner, Rozalia Project, about the importance of protecting our oceans; enjoy complimentary refreshments and mingle with fellow ocean-lovers. Save the date! Moakley Park Vision Plan Open House will take place on Thursday, July 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tierney Learning Center located at 125 Mercer Street. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to the second in a series of open house events to share thoughts on what residents and park users would like to see in the Moakley Park Vision Plan.
