Be healthy! Our friends at Nutritious Navigation are teaming up with us for a little twitter chat on Monday, January 25th from 7pm-8pm.  Give them a follow at @NutritiousNavigation and tag any questions you have with #healthyinsouthie.  Whether you’re curious about what snacks to eat during the day, tips for staying the course when dining out, what to eat after a workout, Katelyn and Meghan are here to help!  Start getting your questions ready now!

Be informed.  Get involved. Two important community meetings are being held this week.  One to discuss Grand Prix Boston and the other is a Plan Dorchester Ave Workshop!  Get the scoop!  https://caughtinsouthie.com/news-politics/two-important-community-mee…

Winter warm up!  Clean out that closet and help those in need.  Mass Bay Credit Union – 147 West Fourth St. is hosting its annual Coat and Warm Clothing drive in partnership with Friends of Boston’s Homeless Warm Hands Warm Heart campaign.  Kindly donate new or gently used winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and socks.  Donations boxes are located in all of Mass Bay’s branches including the one in South Boston.  The charitable drive is in its fifth year and has become a vital Mass Bay Credit Union tradition that members and staff look forward to participating in every year.  Donations will be accepted until January 29th.

Coasting! Take the kids or revisit your childhood with a trip to The Pit on Farragut Road near the Murphy Rink.  Grab a sled and hit the hill at this old school favorite sledding spot of South Boston.  Warm up with some delicious hot chocolate at the Java House at 541 East Broadway.

Take the pledge!  Yes, it’s that time of year again.  Snow, spot savers, stress.  Well, why not pledge to be a good neighbor? Let’s work to be better neighbors – kinder, more mindful, caring neighbors.  Introduce yourself to the people who live next door to you.  Help shovel out your neighbor’s car.  Clear the sidewalk in front of your house, even though you might just rent an apartment.  Shop local.  Pick up trash if you see some on the street.  Check in on your elderly neighbors – see if they need something at the supermarket.  Smile and say good morning.  Join your neighborhood civic association and get involved.
