Sneak peek.  Southie and Dorchester neighbors are invited to a special “early bird” open house of Coppersmith – 40 West Third Street.  Get a first look at the new Southie hot spot, same some global street food from their food trucks, drink some complimentary beverages, and meet the Coppersmith team.  Stop by on Tuesday, September 8th from 4pm-7pm.  Coppersmith opens to the general public on Friday.  

Support our Vets.  Help fund a special trip know as the Veterans Express II for a group of South Boston veterans who proudly served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf get from Boston to Washington DC to visit the WWII Memorial.  A special fundraiser will be held on Thursday, September 10th from 6pm-9pm at the Fitzgerald Post – 715 East Fourth Street – to help support this trip of a lifetime.  Suggested donation is $25.  You can also make a donation directly by visiting: http://www.gofundme.com/veterans_express

Eat, drink and be merry!  It’s Taste of the Seaport!  Enjoy a lunchtime of live music, food and drink event on Thursday, September 10the from 12pm-1:30pm at South Boston Maritime Park. Be Informed.  Get involved. The BRA (Boston Redevelopment Authority) wants your input about The Dorchester Avenue corridor from Andrew Square to Broadway Station.  What is currently a traditional industrial area will be transformed into residential and mix-use.  The BRA would like to know the types of uses and the scale the development best suited for the future of this area.  On Thursday, September 10th take a walking tour or a bicycle tour of the area and be a part of the process.  Both walking and bike tours will leave the parking lot at 195 Old Colony Ave at 5:30pm. Rain date is September 14th.  

Beach party!  Celebrate the end of the summer at the cleanest Beach in Boston!  Mayor Marty Walsh & Save the Harbor/Save the Bay will be your hosts on Saturday, September 12th from 12pm-5pm for  some fun in the sun!  There will be kayaks, paddle boards, games, live music, good old fashioned family fun!  Sweet Cheeks will be provided a pig roast for the first 500 people.  Be on the lookout for blue marbles hidden on the beach.  If you find a blue marble take a photo with it and email it to: [email protected]. Winners will be entered into a drawing to win 2 Jet Blue tickets to the destination of choice!

Try out!  Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre invites aspiring young performers between the ages of 6 and 18 to audition for the performance opportunity of a lifetime!  The Company has embarked on a state-wide search for 200 talented children to fill 3 casts in roles of Party Children, Mice, Soldiers, Angels, Court Attendants, Polichinelles, and Clara.  Auditions will take place  on Saturday, September 12, 2015, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., The Cutler Majestic Theatre 219 Tremont St, Boston

We love a parade!  It’s the annual South Boston Youth Soccer Parade on Thursday, September 10th at 6pm.  Stop by the Moakley Park Soccer Field and watch the youth of South Boston parade around the field sporting their new uniforms.  Hip, hip, hooray!
