Fourth Presbyterian Church (340 Dorchester Street) is taking registrations for its winter session classes for the art and music program Soul Possibilities.  Not only will this program include productions of the The Music Man and The Pajama Game, it will also feature piano lessons, voice lessons, violin and guitar lessons, science classes, film making, dance, art and a special Fashion Blogging class taught by CIS Editor Maureen Dahill?Registration is Monday, September 15th and Tuesday, September 16th from 5:30- 7pm.  For more information and to see a full brochure of classes visit:  www.fourthboston.org.   

Mix it up! The Art of Mixology- Have you ever wondered how your favorite cocktails get created and how they taste so darn good?  On September 18th from 6:30-10pm at The Urban Art Bar join mixologist Lonnie Newburn from Grand Ten Distilling in a hands-on mixology session where you will learn to make 4 creative cocktails. You will learn about the spirits in the cocktails, proper measurements for drinks, blending, tasting, and you get to keep your bartending tool kit! A second neighborhood meeting in regards to developing a sustainable transportation plan for the South Boston Waterfront will take place on Thursday, September 18th at 6pm at District Hall (75 Northern Ave). ?The South Boston Waterfront Sustainable Transportation Plan is responsible with developing a plan for the future with the following goals: improve access and mobility for all, support economic growth and vitality, reinforce sustainable policies and programs. and contribute environmental and health benefits.  The project is being managed by A Better City on behalf of the sponsoring agencies and is scheduled to be complete with plan recommendations by December 2014.  Project details are available here: http://www.sbwaterfrontmobility.org/

Swim with the sharks!  Do you think you can swim from East Boston to South Boston?  Well, the Sharkfest Swim is exactly that – a 1500 meter competitive swim from the Piers Park Sailing Center in East Boston to the Moakley Courthouse at Fan Pier in Southie.  The swim begins at 9:30am on Saturday, September 20th.  Entry fee is $60, Students $35.  To register go to: http://www.sharkfestswim.com This swim is not for novices. This event is for experienced open-water swimmers only. You should be able to swim one mile comfortably in a pool in under 40 minutes.
