Help support a great cause. As a child, nothing is worse than losing a parent.  The Furbush children lost both parents in two months – mom Kristen from brain cancer and dad Steve after suffering a heart attack.  Tragic to say the least. The goal of the Furbush Children’s Benefit is to raise money for an education fund for Kayley (6) and Patrick (3).  This special event will take place on Saturday, June 7th at the Teacher’s Union Hall (180 Mount Vernon Street) at 7:30pm.   Please join the Furbush family and friends for a night to honor and celebrate the lives of Kristen and Steve while enriching Kayley and Patrick’s future.  There will be live music, food, a silent auction and raffles.  Tickets are $40.   If you would like to purchase a ticket or make a donation, kindly visit: www.furbushchildrensbenefit.com

First Fridays at the ICA!  Summer is upon us and the ICA is getting in the spirit!  On Friday, June 6th enjoy Flower Power and celebrate the opening their new show, Jim Hodges: Give More Than You Take.  Go on a mini-tour and then create a giant wall of vibrant paper flowers with artist Melissa Thyden inspired by Hodges’s stunning installation of silk flowers.  Eastern Standard’s mixologist Naomi Levy will be creating a signature floral cocktail for the event. Also, there will be a temporary tattoo parlor featuring wearable art designed by Jim Hodges himself!  Sound like a plan to us!  As always, admission to First Fridays is FREE for ICA members. If you’re not a member you can join by visiting http://www.icaboston.org/join/membership/

Bonus: Rumor has it that Freshii – a new salad, wrap, and burrito shop – will open on Tuesday on A Street.  Stay tuned for me!
