Family fun on the beach! The South Boston Neighborhood House is inviting you to some good old fashioned fun on the beach!  On Tuesday, July 15th from 6pm-8pm stop by Carson Beach for an night of music, dancing, refreshments and books!  All kids will get a t-shirt and a book to take home.  This family event is sponsored by the DCR and Save the Harbor Save the Bay.

Be informed.  Get involved.  You’ve seen them – piled up on the sidewalks, on stoops or in the gutter.  Local circulars and newspapers tucked in plastic bags strewn about the neighborhood.   The Boston City Council’s Committee on City, Neighborhood Services and Veterans Affairs is hosting a hearing on Thursday, July 17th at 4pm in the council’s chambers in City Hall.

Bogo at Local 149! Bring the kids to Local 149 (149 P Steet) Monday through Friday from 4pm-7pm and when  you order an entree you’ll get a free kids meal!  Sweet!  This is a Caught in Southie exclusive so be sure to thank them!

Raise your glass!  Grand Ten Distilling will be in the house at Williams Tavern on Thursday, July 17th from 6pm-9pm for an Irish Whiskey Party.  For $10 bucks you’ll get a free complimentary cocktail and a snack!  See you there!

On your mark, get set, go! Lace up your running sneakers and register for the Jim Kane Sugar Bowl 5K.  This road race is a local favorite for not only its flat course along the water but for the party after the race too. The L Street Running Club, who organizes this race, announced a new team category this year, as well as a vendor expo, awards and raffles, baggage check, free parking and a big BBQ post race. The race takes place on Thursday, July 17th at 7:00 pm and begins at Carson Place.  Registration is $25 ($30 after 7/10).   For more information or to register online visit: http://www.lstreet.org/

As a reminder, please note that team categories were for the 2013 race. The 2014 race will NOT have team categories. We look forward to seeing you at the Jim Kane Sugar Bowl 5k on Thursday.
