A neighborhood meeting in regards to developing a sustainable transportation plan for the South Boston Waterfront will take place on Monday, December 8th at 6pm at The Tynan School (650 East Fourth Street). The South Boston Waterfront Sustainable Transportation Plan is responsible with developing a plan for the future with the following goals: improve access and mobility for all, support economic growth and vitality, reinforce sustainable policies and programs. and contribute environmental and health benefits. The project is being managed by A Better City on behalf of the sponsoring agencies and is scheduled to be complete with plan recommendations by December 2014. Buy a brick! Help support Medicine Wheel’s common path at “No Man’s Land” at Thomas Park buy buying a brick – yes, a brick. You can buy a brick at a special Brick Party at Lincoln on Tuesday, December 9th from 6pm-9pm. By purchasing a brick for just $50, you will help support youth employment from our community and helping pave a way for a better future for these kids. Your brick will be engraved and placed in the path at No Man’s Land. Glitz and glam! Holiday Fashion Night at The Urban Art Bar. The second fashion show of the season at the Urban Art Bar will take place on Thursday, December 11th at 7pm and will feature fashions by Ku De Ta and hair and makeup by Nurture Salon and Spa. Make a night of signature cocktails, mixing and mingling with local fashionistas, and inspiration for your upcoming holiday parties! Cost is $5 and will be donated to the Boston Fire Department Burn Foundation. This night is a do not miss! You can order tickets by visiting The Urban Art Bar website.
Wine + Yoga! Is the hustle and bustle of the holiday season starting to stress you out? Give yourself a break! Join Katie Gentile for a 60-minute all levels Vinyasa flow class on Saturday, December 13th, at 11am at Boston Winery. Class will be followed by a tour of the wine-making facility, a tasting of some of Boston Winery’s best-selling, all-natural wines (no added preservatives or sulfites!), and light snacks. Hang out after the tasting – wines are available for purchase by the glass, or visit the winery’s store to find your favorite wine by the bottle. They make a great gift too! Space is limited! The November class sold out, and advance registration is required as tickets will not be available at the door. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance at Eventbrite.

Light it up! The First Annual Seaport Tree Lighting will take place on Friday, December 12th from 4 to 5 pm at the South Boston Maritime Park (intersection of D Street and Seaport Boulevard). This is event is free and open to the public and will feature cookies, cider and hot chocolate, live holiday music, a visit from Santa and a toy collection for Toys for Tots. It will be a fun opportunity for neighbors to come together to celebrate the season. The West Broadway tree near the municipal lot will have its official tree lighting celebration on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30pm.
Mingle and jingle! It’s that time of year! It’s the South Boston Neighborhood Associations’ Annual Holiday Party. The fun takes place on Wednesday, December 10th from 6:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m.at Stephi’s in Southie (130 Dorchester Ave). Gather with your friends and neighbors for a great cause – the South Boston Boys & Girls Club. There will be music, food, raffles and a cash bar. Admission is $10 and you’re encouraged to bring a Christmas present or gift card for club members ages 5 to 18. This event is proudly organized by:
