Welcome to the neighborhood! In the ever expanding choices in restaurants in our neighborhood, we welcome The Maiden to South Boston.  This past weekend, it quietly opened its doors at 28 West Broadway.  The 80 seat restaurant is part of the Sam’s on the waterfront family and is serving up oysters and meat and cheese.  The Maiden will also offer beer, wine and cordials.  According to Boston Eater, Jason Cheek of Sam’s, Merrill & Co., KO Prime is executive chef and Tyler Potter, also a KO Prime, Eastern Standard and The Lower Depths is sous chef.  For more information visit: https://www.facebook.com/The-Maiden-1631177130503458/?fref=ts

Check your CharlieCard!  The MBTA wants you to check your expiration date on your CharlieCard!  CharlieCard users can check the expiration date on their card at any of the T’s hundreds of fare vending machines throughout the system. If needed, customers can pick up a new card, free of charge, before the end of the month.  Any existing value on an expiring card will be transferred to a new card. Replacement cards may be obtained at the CharlieCard Store at Downtown Crossing or at South Station Monday-Sunday 7am-7pm.  If you feel the need to watch a video showing the process of checking a CharlieCard go to http://www.mbta.com/fares_and_passes/charlie/default.asp?id=22672 but we really hope you don’t need to.

Take the plunge! We hear the best way to cure a hangover is to dive into the freezing cold ocean for a swim!  While there is no scientific research to back that up, it’s a great way to help out the Scleroderma Foundation!  What better way to start off 2016 then by doing something for a great cause!
Meet Kevin Conroy and friends at L Street Tavern at 7am on Friday, January 1st and then be escorted down L Street by 103rd Postal Fire Column Pipes and Drums at 7:15am.  At 8:00am at the L Street Bathhouse, strip down and take an ice-cold plunge!  Warm up back at L Street Tavern for raffles, prizes and a really good time!  Even if you are too chicken to jump into the freezing cold ocean, come by to support the participants brave enough to take the plunge and to support the Scleroderma Foundation!  You can make a donation either by check or by visiting www.scleroderma.org/taketheplunge
