O Christmas Tree – O Christmas Tree! Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s time to deck the halls! Stop by and pick out a beauty at Southie’s favorite Christmas tree pop up shop at the corner of L and East First Street (621 East First Street).  Whether you need an 8ft or a 4ft, they’ve got a wide variety. Open daily from 7am-11pm 7 days a week and offering free local delivery.  Perfect for you late-night tree shoppers.

Get into the holiday spirit! On Thursday, December 4th take part in the South Boston Holiday Stroll!  This fun-filled event takes place from 4pm to 8pm.  Sip, shop, and dine your way around Southie and take advantage of special discounts and one-night only promotions at local shops and restaurants.  Enjoy one night of incredible savings at more than 20 local retail establishments, restaurants, salons and specialty pop-up shops throughout South Boston!  On Friday, December 5th the neighborhood of Fort Point will host their holiday stroll from 4pm-8pm.  Shop local!  It’s good for everyone!

Need a little Christmas? Nothing gets us more in the Christmas spirit than a good old fashioned neighborhood tree lighting!  Here in Southie we will be having  three  – yes, three – tree lightings in the ‘hood. Thursday, December 4th – 5pm  As part of the South Boston Holiday Stroll, a tree lighting will take place in front of the South Boston Library on East Broadway.  Enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, caroling, Santa and a gingerbread house contest on Thursday, December 4th at 5pm.  On Friday, December 5th at 5pm Santa Claus and his posse of merrymakers will be on hand for this tree lighting.  Reindeer, snowmen, and gingerbread will be singing, dancing and getting the crowd fired up at M Street Park.  Light refreshments will be served. The West Broadway tree near the municipal lot will have its official tree lighting celebration on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30pm.  Talk about holly jolly!

Buy a brick! Help support Medicine Wheel’s common path at “No Man’s Land” at Thomas Park buy buying a brick – yes, a brick.  You can buy a brick at a special Brick Party at Lincoln on Tuesday, December 9th from 6pm-9pm.  By purchasing a brick for just $50, you will help support youth employment from our community and helping pave a way for a better future for these kids.  Your brick will be engraved and placed in the path at No Man’s Land.  To donate visit: http://mwponline.org/wordpress/donate/  $50 also will get you brick oven pizza, a chance to mix and mingle with neighbors and a sneak peek at a short film on No Man’s Land produced and sponsored by Michael Indresano Photography.  The brick can be engraved to honor a loved one, a hope, a dream, a wish, a prayer, and live forever in South Boston’s historic Thomas Park.  Makes a great gift!
