Hit the beach!  Anyone who takes any of Barbara Rose’s classes at C2 in Southie knows she’s one tough and motivating instructor.  Well, she’s bringing things outdoors to the beach in Savin Hill (just a hop, skip and a jump away.  Every Monday night at 6:30pm, Barbara leads a no-nonsense workout incorporating cardio, strength, core work and more.  She brings all the equipment, you just show up!   End the workout with a much deserved long stretch on the boardwalk.   Cost is $10.  There is plenty of parking near the beach too!  For more information visit: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Savin-Hill-Bootcamp-with-Barbara/87125385…

National Night Out! Come meet Mayor Marty Walsh and Police Commissioner Evans at a special neighborhood event on Tuesday, August 4th at Moakley Park (next to the Ollie near the rotary) from 6pm-9pm. There will be kids activities, give-aways, face painting, Simon Says, music and a free throw contest! Awards will be given for Southie’s neighborhood watch groups too!

Dump ice cold water on your head for ALS!  Chances are you’ve already don the Pete Frates Ice Bucket Challenge but have you done it as a group representing Southie?  Well, head to M Street Beach in Southie on Wednesday, August 5th at 7pm for the Southie Ice Bucket Challenge.  Just a friendly neighborhood competition between us and some other Boston ‘hoods.  Let’s show our Southie pride and dump some ice cold water on our heads!  T-shirts will be sold at the event and there will be food and drink for a post-challenge celebration!  So stop by and show your support! 

Eat out!  Make a plan to grab some dinner and drinks at the Playwright on Thursday, August 6th between 5pm- 9pm. Mention the South Boston Neighborhood House (aka the Ollie) and 20% goes back to the charity!  Sweet!

On your mark, get set, go!  Compete in a triathlon right in your own back yard Southie! On Sunday, August 9th at 8:15 a.m. hundreds of triathletes will take to Boston Harbor and William Day Boulevard to compete in The Boston Triathlon. The swim takes place at Carson Beach and the bike and run are up and down William Day Boulevard and the Sugar Bowl path and ends back at Mother’s Rest at Carson Beach.   It’s a 1/2 mile swim, 9 mile bike and a four mile run!  Piece of cake!  There’s also an Après Epic party that includes food, beer garden, games, vendors, music and more all on Carson Beach.  What more could you ask for?  For more information go to: http://www.bostontri.com
