School of Rock! Register your kids for something a little different this fall – rock climbing right here in Southie! With classes for every level and age, your kids will learn rock climbing skills and techniques, including how to tie their climbing knots and how to move on the wall. Take a tour!  Join a DCR park ranger for a two mile scenic stroll along Pleasure Bay in South Boston. As early as the 19th century, Frederick Law Olmsted envisioned Marine Park as the final jewel in Boston’s Emerald Necklace and a place for city dwellers to experience sublime nature. Enjoy an evening promenade as you consider the evolution of Olmsted’s vision. This walk is appropriate for adults and children ages 10 and up and takes place on Wednesday, August 19th from 6pm-7:30pm.  

Mix and Mingle! On August 18, Team IMPACT’s Young Professional Board will host the inaugural 2015 “Team IMPACT Summer Fest” at The Lawn on D to benefit the Boston-based organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses by drafting them onto college athletic teams.  This event will feature an outdoor concert with  Boston’s own Dalton and the Sheriffs, food and drink from Southie’s Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar and Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant, assorted lawn games and more.  https://getinvolved.goteamimpact.org/summer-fest-2015

SBYHL News: 
South Boston Youth Hockey is a non-profit program geared toward providing our kids a fun, active and rewarding experience on the ice.  For the upcoming season we are looking to round out teams at both the Squirt (birth yrs. 2005-2006) and Bantam (birth yrs. (2001-2002) levels.  SBYHL is a member of the Valley Hockey League which participates in 35+ games per year.  In addition to games we offer weekly team practice and age appropriate skill sessions.  Squirts level players are also enrolled to play in our weekly house league games.  Tuition assistance applications are available for those in need.  If interested or have questions please contact John Picarielo at [email protected]
