Books and the beach!  The South Boston Neighborhood House is inviting you to some good old fashioned fun on the beach!  On Tuesday, August 12th from 6pm-8pm stop by Carson Beach for an night of music, dancing, refreshments and books!  All kids will get a t-shirt and a book to take home.  This family event is sponsored by the DCR and Save the Harbor Save the Bay.

Who says there’s no such thing as a free lunch? The Taste of Seaport will be back again for its third year!  Enjoy a lunchtime sampling of some of South Boston’s best waterfront restaurants on Thursday, August 14th from 12pm-1:30pm.  This delicious event happens at South Boston Maritime Park at the corner of D and Congress Street.   There will also be live music performed by local artists.

Hey, oh, eh (in the voice of Paulie Walnuts)! Come celebrate Italian pride on Wednesday, August 13th from 6pm-8pm at Medal of Honor Park at M Street Park.  Enjoy live music performed by Michael Dutra and The Strictly Sinatra Band.  There will be kids activities and the Mayor Marty Walsh and the City of Boston will be honoring some special someone from Southie too – to be announced later! Even if you’re not Italian, you can still celebrate Italian Pride Night!

Party on the lawn! On Saturday, August 16th from 12pm-5pm The Lawn on D (420 D Street) will celebrate it’s official launch.  Stop by and enjoy games, art, face paining, live music and performances, food trucks and lots more family fun!  This event is free and open to the public!

Raise the roof!  The South Boston Leadership Initiative – helping shape the youth of South Boston – is kicking off its second season!  On Thursday, August 14th from 5:30-8pm stop by 303 Congress Street and raise a glass on the rooftop deck.  Support a great cause.  Tickets are $30.  For more information contact [email protected]

Get checked out!  Dana-Farber is offering free skin cancer education and screening on Carson Beach on Thursday, August 14th and Tuesday, August 19th from 11am-3pm.  Stop by and be healthy and well!  Screenings may be cancelled if there is rain.  Call 617-632-2614 for more information.
