Just some suggestions of fun things happening around town

I think we’re gonna need a bigger boat.  Shark week begins on July 31st on the Discovery Channel.  Satisfy your fascination with the macabre with shows like Great White Invasion, Rogue Sharks and Summer of the Shark.  Consider yourself warned, you’ll never want to swim in the ocean again.  For a complete schedule of shows and times go to www.dsc.discovery.com/tv/shark-week/

Did you know that Fort Warren on Georges Island is designated a National Historic Landmark due to its prominent role in the American Civil War. Fort Warren served two main functions during the war: a training camp for Union troops and a depot for Confederate prisoners.  Plan a day trip with a historical spin and take a Boston Harbor Island Ferry over to Georges Island and explore.  While your there, ask about the legend of the Lady in Black.  Very spooky!  For a ferry schedule or more information visit www.bostonharborislands.com

Enjoy of night of suspense with the master.  The South Boston Public Library (646 East Broadway) continues its Thursday night series of Alfred Hitchcock Films with The Wrong Man starring Henry Fonda and Vera Miles.  Thursday, July 28th at 6pm.

Beat the heat!  Cool off with some Grapefruit Sorbet from American Provisions (613 East Broadway.)  It’s refreshingly delicious and a nice and light alternative to ice cream.  Yum!

Need a vacation but don’t have the cash to take one?  Mass Bay Credit Union is offering a vacation loan.  Borrow up to $7500 and take up to 18 months to pay back.  For details go to www.massbaycu.com.  Martha’s Vineyard here we come
