Community meal. One of the more original fundraisers in Southie, Open Hearts Open Home is Wednesday, June 8th at the Seaport Hotel from 5:30pm-7:30pm. This event begins with a delicious reception at the hotel with live and silent auctions as well as the awarding of the Carding Hear Award to Senator Jack Hard and Senator Steve Tolman. Festus (great name) Joyce of Sheetmetal Workers Local 17 will also be recognized. Then at 7:30 the fun begins! Guests will then head to different locations throughout South Boston for the dinner party portion of the night. Enjoy a seaside barbecue at the Southie Yacht Club to a creative “work of art” nibble at a South Boston artist’s studio. Fun and delicious. For tickets call Jill at 617-268-5517 x16. Kick off a campaign! Help City Councilor Bill Linehan launch his campaign at Stadium Bar and Grill (232 Old Colony Ave) on Friday, June 10th 6pm to 10pm. There will be music, food and drinks. Suggested donation is $25.

The Wizard of Oz Children’s Educational Exhibition is happening at the Boston Children’s Museum (308 Congress Street) through September 10. Visitors of all ages are invited to come along with Dorothy and Toto on a multi-sensory, cross-disciplinary exploration of the Land of Oz. Travel from the Gale Farm to the colorful Land of Oz, where they explore Munchkinland, The Crossroads, The Witch’s Castle and The Emerald City before heading back over the rainbow to Boston, because, of course, “There’s no place like home.”
