Week of August 26th
Ride a crustacean! Take a spin on the Rose Kennedy Greenway’s new custom-made carousel featuring New England style creatures like a lobster, barn owl, and a harbor seal.
The ride includes a light show programmed to music like the Star Wars Theme, Raffi hits and even the Drop Kick Murphy’s Shipping Up to Boston. Well, that sounds like the coolest merry-go-round ever! $3 a ride.
Light the lanterns. Medicine Wheel’s countless hours of creating hand-made paper lantern will come to fruition on Wednesday, August 28th at 7pm. Join your friends and neighbors at Castle Island and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s, “I Have a Dream” speech. Thousands of lanterns will encircle Pleasure Bay in this special Beacon to Dream Event.
Hip to be Square. In celebration of the 30th Anniversary of their hit album “Sports”, Huey Lewis and the News will be playing on Wednesday, August 28th at the Bank of America Pavilion. Tickets: $39-$85.50; livenation.com. With hits like “I Want a New Drug”, “Heart of Rock and Roll” and “If This is It”, we think it might be one of the best pop albums of the 80’s.
